Live current-holdings insights
See the sector allocation behind your stock holdings
HoldingsTracker Pro groups your current Zerodha holdings into sector and sub-sector views. Find out whether apparently different stocks are actually contributing to the same broad exposure.
Free installation and research links. Advanced-feature account requirements are shown in the extension. No paid checkout is currently available.
Measure allocation by value, not by stock count
Sector allocation is the current value of holdings in a sector divided by the total current value of the holdings included. Counting stocks instead can be misleading: two small positions and two large positions do not carry the same exposure. Sector and sub-sector insights are available in the current extension; check the extension for advanced-feature account requirements.

How to use it
- Open Portfolio Insights on your Kite holdings page and review the sector and sub-sector groupings.
- Check which stocks make up a large sector slice, rather than interpreting the sector label alone.
- Verify ambiguous classifications and the holdings included in the total. Compare the worked example with the fictional portfolio demo to understand the calculation.
Worked example: two banks, one shared sector exposure
Hypothetical companies and values, for arithmetic only. These are not securities recommendations, actual prices, or user holdings.
| Holding | Sector | Current value | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aster Bank | Financials | ₹60,000 | 30% |
| Birch Bank | Financials | ₹40,000 | 20% |
| Cedar Software | Technology | ₹50,000 | 25% |
| Delta Engineering | Industrials | ₹30,000 | 15% |
| Elm Foods | Consumer Staples | ₹20,000 | 10% |
| Total | Five positions | ₹2,00,000 | 100% |
- Financials = Aster Bank ₹60,000 + Birch Bank ₹40,000 = ₹1,00,000.
- Financials weight = ₹1,00,000 ÷ ₹2,00,000 × 100 = 50%, even though banks are only two of the five stocks (40% by count).
- Technology is 25%, Industrials 15%, and Consumer Staples 10%. The value-based sector weights sum to 100%.
The two bank positions are separate companies but share some sector-level drivers. A 50% allocation does not establish that the portfolio is unsuitable; it identifies an exposure to investigate in the context of your own objectives and other assets.
What this view does not tell you
- Sector classifications simplify businesses. Conglomerates and companies with several revenue streams may not fit neatly in one label.
- A broad spread across sector labels does not prove low correlation or low risk. Sector weights are not a forecast of losses or returns.
- The denominator is the included current holdings, not necessarily all your wealth. Cash, funds, property, and holdings elsewhere can change the wider picture.
What stays local, and what is sent
The extension reads the visible holdings page and calculates position values and weights in your browser. Stock symbols are sent to the backend to look up sector labels; quantities, costs, position values, and profit or loss are not sent for that lookup. Opening third-party research passes the selected symbol to the destination service. Account sign-in uses the authentication service.
The separate sample portfolio demo calculates from inputs held in page memory, does not transmit those inputs, and generates CSV downloads locally. It does not connect to your broker. Optional public-site analytics, only if configured and explicitly opted into, must not include financial inputs. Your consent choice is stored locally.
